Eighty-seven percent of Americans see the state of moral values in the nation as either “poor” or “only fair,” according to Gallup polling numbers released this month.
In other words: Americans know this country is facing a moral crisis.
The question now is what are Americans willing to do about it?
A second finding from Gallup released also this month shows a record number — 17% — of Americans do not believe in God.
These two issues are actually intertwined.
God is the one who determines what’s moral, what’s not and how His creations ought best to behave. The more humans rely on their own hearts and minds to guide — the more humans scorn biblical teachings and truths and refuse to acknowledge a need for God — the more individuals chart their own paths and decide they know best how to live their own lives — the more humanity deviates from morality.
That’s how we move from a culture of acceptance of, say, sex only within the confines of marriage to sex with multiple partners to sex with same-sex partners to sex with — and this is coming; the grooming is already here — sex with kids.
“Videos Show Small Children Dancing with Drag Queens,” the Tennessee Star wrote in one June headline.
The story went on to report about a gay bar in Dallas hosting a “Drag the Kids to Pride” event “where scantily clad drag queens gyrated in front of young children, and invited them to join them on stage.”
And here’s the even more shocking part: “The children who attended the show appeared to be under ten years old, and included babies and toddlers,” The Tennessee Star reported.
That’s called grooming.
That’s what’s passing for morality muster these days in America.
But the sexualization of children was a predictable next-step drop in morality years and years ago, back when recreational sex, even adulterous sex, were moving mainstream and the LGBTQ agenda was picking up steam — the slippery slope of moral depravity was a warning that should have been heeded, could have been heeded, way back then. It wasn’t.
It wasn’t because all along this path of morality were walking more and more secular people.
To remove God from society is to remove the one steadfast moral compass that exists.
To remove God from culture is to turn the culture — inevitably — crass, vulgar, lascivious, licentious and wicked.
From Gallup, June 17: “The vast majority of U.S. adults believe in God, but the 81% who do so is down six percentage points from 2017 and is the lowest in Gallup’s trend. Between 1944 and 2011, more than 90% of Americans believed in God. Gallups’ May 2-22 Values and Beliefs poll finds 17% of Americans saying they do not believe in God.”
From Gallup, June 15: “A record-high 50% of Americans rate the overall state of moral values in the U.S. as ‘poor,’ and another 37% say it is ‘only fair.’ Just 1% think the state of moral values is ‘excellent’ and 12% ‘good.’ Although negative views of the nation’s moral values have been the norm throughout Gallup’s 20-year trend, the current poor rating is the highest on record by one percentage point.”

Record numbers of Americans say the nation’s moral values are “poor.”
The two findings are inextricably linked. So, too, would be the solution.
If Americans want a more moral society, Americans need to pick up their Bibles and read, then apply.
